I found this scene on Duel Hollow Rd. near Turnpike Rd.

Sometimes I think you just have to get paintings out of your system before you can get beyond them, this is one of those.

Please excuse the sparse commentary.  I really do have more words in me but I'm overwhelmed by all the things laid out for me right now and I'm loving going out to paint sometimes twice on these beautiful sunny days!

Early and late, the best kinds of light.

     I got out early this morning so we could go for a hike in manchester, Vt.  This is my house, it often does not have the most interesting lighting, but for a few minutes in the day when it's like this.

The shadow of the trees moved quickly across the side of the house, a phenomenon I've been watching since I first painted his scene last August, when I actually get afternoon light on the front of the house.

Early evening today.......

  I found this scene on North Rd. in Greenwich, NY.

The shadow is the lift-gate of my van, and just slightly distracting.

         Nothing soothes the savage beast like the music of paint, at least for me.  After days of the market, and all that, getting out with the sun out was restorative, this is what I did.

This is becoming a favorite spot.

      Today's Money Shot.

  I'm in the back of the parking lot of the post office  looking at the Presbyterian Church with the late day light on it.

2 days 3 paintings.

warm and mostly sunny.

             The last two days I got three paintings done.  All three sessions were cut short by changing light conditions, two when clouds covered the sun, another when the sun hit my panel.  This is the life of a landscape painter, I never know what my light is going to do and I've put my faith in painting the here and now, not even trying to make things up, so I take it all in stride, I'm pleased I got some paint flowing, but think my results were not fully baked.

This is Center White Creek, and the Center White Creek Baptist Church.  I liked the bright white light off the building.

      This morning I took Hope to school, she missed the bus, and I saw the white of the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, so dramatic, I returned as soon as I could to get this.

By the time I returned, maybe 1/2 hour, I took this photo, and some of the punch was gone, but it was still a good scene.

Light moves fast, and it moved right onto my panel.
