Sunset near Hodingen

74  F  clear
After my big adventure in the day, with the tourist crowds, I felt right at home in the fields going up toward Hodingen, the sun was going to set.

#362 path near Hodingen

These paths are used by the farmers only. One came by while I was here.

 This is definitely my scene.

Certain forms and patterns come naturally, don't fight it, let it happen.

The light is so delicious this time of night!

This was quick, the light changing, some of my colors aren't quite right, but if I get the value it almost doesn't matter.

Here is where I ended up!

My scene.

This was yesterday (Friday 8-8-14) today were going to get bikes so I can ride around!

A lot of these paths are paved, and it's real easy to travel. I set up on the edge no matter what.

Thanks for reading my blog and joining me in this adventure!

A map, a hike, more travelogue pics another day of adventure!:

74  F  sunny, humid.
This was done at the waterfront park in Uberlingen. I went there because i wanted a map, and thought it would be fun to go on an adventure to get it.

#361 Uberlinger See from Uberlingen.

I was in the shade and that was nice, I had walked a long way, 3-4 kilometers, and it was hot, I found a map, and the town was filled with tourists, so I kept hiking until it thinned out and I found this spot, a familiar composition for me.

Some things change and some don't. I'm not an urban painter and I'm not one to like crowds, even this spot was too crowded for me.

My reasoning is that if I keep most factors the same the differences will show, that would be the light and the color.

The remarkable thing is the color of the water.

For the most part un-eventful, the a woman came, sat next to me and started to talk to me, she was nice, but.......

The scene at the start, I left out the barrier.

My pallet pretty much the same.

My wife asked for pics of fountains and stuff related to the paths that run all over the place, so I'm putting them here for all to see, indeed they re wonderful!

Nice!

Here is a sample if the signs, I'm getting to know how to read them.

I couldn't resist!

There are a lot of fountains!

I don't think I've ever seen this in the U.S. This place is pedestrian friendly and that's a great thing.

I  did another painting today, but I'll have to blog that tomorrow, sleep!

Two paintings & a visit by the US Consul General, travelogue, speeches and a party! (Thursday, 8-7-14)

A lovely day, with sun, a bit of rain and some clouds.
The day started yesterday with a shopping trip to Uberlingen, we went to a grocery store and the bank, I wanted some soap and euros.

The streets in downtown.

A grotto if I have that right.

Detail of above.

Back on campus, I found a scene not far from yesterday's.

Sky & test for far hills.

Far hills.

Foreground. Note the tree is not there.

A few missing shots, this is close....

This is where I ended up.

Money shot. The sailboats came in at the end, so I put a few in.

I'm missing my stand-up easel, but in general like my set up.

Lunch, 12:30-13:30

After lunch I went back to the little village, thinking I would find a barn. Here is a sign along the walking path, I'm slowly figuring out how they work.

I found this before I got to the farm part of the hamlet....

Like anywhere the light conditions change constantly, and the clouds were on the move....

The clouds had some brightness on them, the hills had a lot of different greens.

I was close, when I realized Iforgot the foliage entering the composition on the left.

The thing I liked about the scene is the "looking through" aspect, and this kind of foliage does the job!

The scene when I started.

This happens, beautiful in itself, but different.

Here is a spot, made for a painter, how could I not stop and paint it?

Time to get ready.

We didn't realize until the previous night that there would be dignitaries present. The group included the U.S. Counsel General Kevin Milas and the Deputy General, Susan Vickers, and their body guards. They were very gracious and the importance of our endeavors was very humbling!

There were speeches, this is the Consul.

There were performers, this is Amanda.

A reception and party, conveniently there is a winery in this place! We are making friends!
